Should do, as long as you have a contact pin in position 6, and you short it out to a good earth, then turn the ignition on, it should work. But some didnt have the internal diagnostic display enabled. If you are sure you did it correctly, then the last option is the diagnostic code reader.

    Hi all.

I have done the paperclip test on my Astra G after failed making work a cheap chinese Opel Tech 2 usb interface

I have some codes, but nothing match your examples.

    This is what I read:

    4050170154016121 4050170154016121 ... etc

    ???

Is it the nuclear codes or winning lotery numbers ??? :ROFLMAO:

    Any idea ?

    Thanks

No worries only 1 16 valve engine fitted engine code is X14XE. Can't comment on your diagnostic interface not working as I don't know which one you got (Can't be a tech2 as they cost at least a grand or 2) Or why you couldnt get it to work, anyhow, I don't know how you tried to read the codes but all of those codes are totally invalid. To do the paperclip test, locate pin 6 in the diagnostic socket, use a piece of wire and short out pin 6 to a good earth. Turn the ignition on and count the flashes of the EML very very carefully. ALL fault codes will contain 4 digits. For example 0302 will be 10 flashes, 3 flashes 10 flashes 2 flashes.

I did it shorting pin 5 to pin 6.
I have read this values very carefuly ( I have wrote this sequence 4 times on my paper).

I will try tomorrow shorting pin 5 to the earth to see if the values are the same.

    Thank you !
