Can anyone give any clues on getting a bit more 'umph' from the 1.7DT engine?
I have had a service recently (oil+filter, Fuel filter and thermostat) i have fitted a universal cone filter which i am yet to put a cold feed to. However this did reduce throttle flat spots.
I have also replaced the glows plugs and still suffre from poor cold start in any weather??

Turning up the fuel and boost is all at the start of this thread and is straight forward enough to do. You'd need to get a bleed valve and boost gauge to set it up properly. You can also remove the cat and others have mounted a larger inter-cooler etc. It's all in this thread.

Where abouts is the cone filter fitted? Make sure there's not a panel filter under the cover on top of the engine as well.

Are you sure the glow circuit is operating correctly? if it's high mileage it's probably a good time to check the valve clearances.

its currently on 118k miles. Emissions is below average too.
Cone filter is mounted directly onto the air filter box on top of the engine, although i have removed the standard filter.

i can get my guys at work to do the other stuff, as im not good with a spanner on my own car.

from what ive read over on migweb sid, you have to get a flange plate or something similar made up to bolt the turbo to the downpipe as the holes for the bolts dont line up. ive never looked at doing it myself though as its a big job
