hi, does anyone know if the 3.0 v6 elite gearbox is different to the 3.0 v6 mv6 gearbox? My memory maybe shocking but I'm sure the mv6 I had years ago did getting on for 110mph in 3rd

R28 manual generally across all Omegas (not 100% sure on 4 pots)

AR25 auto on 2.5/2.6 petrol and think the 2.5 and 2.2 diesel

    AR35 auto on 3ltr and 3.2 petrol

the two autoboxes look the same from the outside and are easily swappable - if anyone has a 2.5 straight 6 diesel, it comes with the AR25, if the engine is chipped to the BMW 160odd figures the AR25 is dead in a few miles, but the AF35 just bolts on in its place

Autos were 4 speed, manual is 5 speed, very few European cars, possibly diesel only, had a 5 speed auto

MV6 had same gearbox as rest of range, AR boxes in sport mode under WOT change into top gear at just over 120mph

Some cars had LSD but these are generally only ex police and were never standard fit on the MV6 or any other Omega, seems to be luck of the draw if you have one

thanks for the info, I had a 98 mv6 about 10 years ago and I swear it done just about 110mph in 3rd and around 135-140moh in 4th. I had 155 out of it before running out of road. The car I have now was an auto mv6 but swapped engine and gearbox from a 96 elite estate exchanging plenum and sourcing a manual mv6 ECU. Anyway lol it does around 90ish in 3rd. Still got the auto diff on it (have manual one to fit when I have time).

the speedo is out but only by the usual 10%. I have an auto box that was reconditioned about 30k ago if you know anyone who needs one lol

maybe I'm just looking back with rose tinted glasses lol got a video of it somewhere will have to dig it out and see if rev/speed are the same

I fitted a v6 gearbox to my 2.2 petrol engine, as far as I know they are the same box, only the rear diff alters the gearing.

I've found out the gearbox's are different. So are the diffs. Mostly. There is a difference in diffs between manual and auto on all engine size apart from 3 litres.
