hi all, hope your ready for Christmas yet more electrical gremlins with the omegatron. The final hurdle in getting the car running properly, what's happening is the ECU light flickers. When plugged into Vauxhall software while car is running it shows the crank sensor is to be inactive then active and keeps going between the two. So I'm guessing that's why the light flickers, so I got another sensor put it on and using another mates snap on reader/scanner read the car. No codes. So cleared them anyway and light stayed off, revved it and it stayed off. Drove it and its back flickering again. Could the pick up be damaged? Does anybody have any idea how to cure this problem?

many thanks for any help you have to offer

Where did your replacement sensor come from and was the fault exactly the same with the old sensor?
I forget, are you using the cars original engine loom or the one that matches the new ecu?

Sounds more like a wiring issue if the light is only flickering and not on permanently.

I was wondering if it could be the CAM sensor, you know how these things are, sometimes it comes up with the wrong code,,,,as the man says is it a cheapo sensor and could be a wiring fault, i can tell you how to test these things, but most people unfortunately dont know how to use a multi tester....mind you if you have OpCom cant you read the voltages from these things on live data.....i think the crank sensor is usually magnet and the cam sensor is hall effect...good luck form Fred in Essex.

thanks for replies. It's not the cam sensor, the computer (software) shows the crank sensor being active then in active continuously thus the flickering. I'm using the 96 loom with a 98/99 ECU. The crank sensor is off eBay. The last one did the same and the one before that. However with this one it doesn't tick over, I think that's because when it was plugged it we lowered the tick over (pre sensor change) can't use the software again till my mate is back at work so stuck at the mo. I've heard of the distance being slightly out which will cause this keep kinda issue.
