They would have taken it to town for a sandwich and cooked the HG

You've just reminded me , they fixed that Peugeot after all once the owner admitted to not telling the lads everything he'd been mucking about with , he owned up to the head gasket being shot before he brought it in despite the fact he'd poured some steel seal in & then panicked & emptied it out . Trouble was he'd told them he'd had a split in his bottom hose & replaced it then put the steel seal in , which in fact wasn't the truth as they found out on the sandwich run . Anyway they agreed to take the head off & see what was happening & found the head gasket had gone on the left hand corner so for £400 he's back on the road .

That's annoying :( how did you find out?
Are you just gonna replace the car as you're gonna need a replacement soon anyway?

Via email from technical support in China apparently.

The inshitnia is so technically advanced is scary, most people just come home and find a 'Dear John' letter telling them their head gasket has gone...

Coolant loss, over pressurised cooling system.

It's good for another 6 months which is over 3k in car allowance so it's worth fixing so not the end of the world.

getting it back today with a new thermostat fitted...

Looks like it had started sticking causing the cooling system to pressurise and therefore causing the coolant loss.

Fingers crossed the HG is actually still ok saving me a good chunk of change!
