    Now this ISN’T a rant, it’s more of a polite request….

We appreciate that attending a meet isn’t the be all and end all of everything, and God knows, there are more important things in life to attend to. Neither do we mind that people have to drop out at the last minute, again something might come up, you might have something more important to do, realise you don’t have the petrol or just don’t feel like it… and this is all fine - it happens to us all, and we understand.

However. What we would appreciate is being told beforehand if certain people can’t make it for whatever reason. The scenario is we’re at a meeting point waiting for people to arrive, if we know how many people are confirmed to be coming we then know how long we have to stand outside in whatever weather waiting to meet said people.

As far as remembering you are down to go to a meet I can only suggest that if you put your name on a rolling list, you subscribe to the thread. Threads get bumped on the run up to a meet and might have new information about revised meeting times/locations. Nobody is perfect, but I’m sure I can speak for most (if not all) the Regional Co-Ordinators when saying if we go to the effort of arranging a meet we’d REALLY appreciate it if, when you add your name to a rolling list you do something to make sure you remember you did so, and if at any point you realise you can’t/don’t want to attend it, please, just let us know so we’re not expecting you.

There is more we can do to assure that you are given the correct details straight away, and as such any meet that I put forward from now on will have the date and the day in the title, and any updated information will be available ‘no frills’ in the first post, so you don’t have to sieve through pages of chit chat to get the necessary details.

As I said, this isn’t intended as a rant, we know and fully understand that there are more important things in life, but we do go to quite an extent with some of these meets to get things sorted, and when a good portion of the people said to be coming just don’t show up it is a bit disheartening.

So to sum up, please if you are adding your name to a rolling list for a meet/event:

    1. Find a way to remind yourself you are on the list, subscribe to the thread for example.
    2. Check for updates in the thread on the run up to the meet.
    3. If for any reason you can’t attend, please try and let us know, we may even be able to access the net from our phones.

Sorry for going on about this, but please give it consideration for future meets, we only bother doing it so we can all get together and have a laugh.

    Thanks,
