In my Astra (10 pin aldl) the paperclip test worked with lots of 12's meaning no electrical problems (12= 1 flash - pause - 2 flashes), I soon figured it out)) (eg 19= 1 flash - pause 9 flashes) My engine did run like sugar too (over 2000rpm and rough) with the paperclip in so i did it without engine running. Afterwards I reset the ECU by turning ignition on and off 25 times (as I found out on here) I'm going to try the paperclip trick on my Mothers Mk3 Astra 1.4, she's used to the orange light being on most of the time.. I've been told that the paperclip method doesnt work on newer cars so I guess it wouldnt work on the Zafira - Vauxhall obviously don't like people to interfere with their newer cars and would rather we pay a premium for their laptop guy to hook up his box of tricks.

What would happen if you drove the car with the pins shorted , would it cause any damage ?

    Fault Codes

Hi I Have Just Followed The Excellent Forum Topic On Reading Fault Codes.

    I Have A 1994 Cav Sri With Ecotec. 2.0 16v.

My Eml Has Come On Alot Lately And The Car Has Also Been Stalling Alot

The Codes Read As Follows: Code 73 - Mass Air Flow Temperature.

And... Code 92 - Camshaft Sensor Incorrect Signal.

Does Anyone Have Any Idea What Io Should Do Now I Have These Results?

    Many Thanx

Hello all you lovely cav enthusiasts. Im trying to diag some probs on my wifes cav,I convinced her to have one as thats all ive ever owned and need to sort a few probs, Im familiar with the fault code readings and her model is the 1600 carb version with the ability to read fault codes, I need to know if anyone can list me the carb version faultcodes as I can only find 1600i, or are they pretty similar fault codes apart from the obvious extras?? cheers Guys and Gals(y)

This might come in handy for someone... The following link/download will give you all the fault codes and how to get the fault codes themselves for all/most makes and models of cars.

    http://www.mediafire.com/?dj0h1ybz5sh

The file is a .pdf which you will need adobe acrobat reader to view. (37.5mb in size also)

Hi there, I have just recently bought this van. Now the problem i am haveing is im feeling a slight loss of power every now and then like diesel is blocked for 1 sec or so, but now it's also cutting out whilst driving (Car with spanner going through it sign lights up). It restarts right away and drives and the cutting out seems random.

Ive checked both topbuzz and the pdf file posted here and niether of these have these codes.

    Vauxhall Combo 1.3 diesel 16v cdti 2005

ive been and got the codes they are as follows.

P1191 - Rail pressure to low

    P1093 - Fuel system malfunction

    P1191 - Rail Pressure range/performance

Ive tried numerous forums and no one seems to be able to tell me anything, is there anyone or anywhere i can go to get these codes read to say exactly what part i need to replace as ive put all my money into this van and am low on cash and now cant work.

The mechanic that did the reading told me his system doesnt have these codes as Vauxhall keeps these till the system is older, not sure how true that is or if he hasnt just paid to update his database?

ty for any posts in advance

    regards peter
