When removing door hinge pins many people use an ordinary hammer, this will only make it hard if not impossible, when using a hinge pin removal tool ALWAYS use a CLUB hammer, it is much heavier than a normal hammer with a shorter handle and flat heavy square head. This gives more 'Bang for your buck' resulting in less distortion and an even strike on the removal tool with the inevitable result that you will remove the pin with less aggrivation. Just remember to spray plenty of WD40 at least a week before you plan to carry this out to aid a quick and easy removal.
Remove all door furniture BEFORE doing this to lighten the door and remove ALL electrical connections if you have them between door and mainframe as well as the door retaining strap, put a hydraulic jack with wood and cardboard under the mid point of the door to take the weight so that it does not sag when the pins are extracted.
Follow this procedure and you will not go wrong
