whilst removing the headling today i decided to strip the boot to see why there was so much condensation in the car.

whilst in the i had a look at the inner arches and found this..

although it looks real bad in the pick its mainly surface so ill be treating the rust,
what other ways should i stop this getting any worse in the future? Waxoyl/Foam?

i'm pretty sure the water is getting in through the loose aerial rubber gromet, and as there isnt a puddle of water sitting within the arches im sure its not pourring in it seems to be just the condensation.

i do however want to stop it getting any worse soon as the arches were only
replace just before i bought the car and from the outside they are mint.

also does anyone know what the sounddeadening for, theres a panel either side
do they have any function or are they just to stop the panels vibrating?

Not looking its best there mate.

As per your headlining thread really mate. Check your sunroof drainage pipes are clear, and not blocked.

Looking at this picture below, of your inner ns rear arch, looking at the trail of rusty colours water marks, I would say water is getting through from the roads in the wet.

i see what you meen, the arches where done before i bought the car although theyve done a real good job from the outside i would say that the large patch of rust in the centre of the pic was there before they replaced them and they didnt bother cutting it all out, and the same on the otherside, might have a go at treating the rust see how bad it is after that!!

i hadnt though about the seal on that side, have to check that one, im pretty sure its more likely to be the aerial though, as it just sits there, it doesnt hold in place properlly,

ideally id like to remove the hole alltogether, have it filled and sprayed, has anyone had this done to there car and how much might it cost?

alternitavly what can i use as a temporary measure to seal off the hole? thought about a large rubber gromit or maybe the cheapest aerial and replace it! i dont really want to start siliconing the hole as would look horrible
