It will come off but you need to either lift the d/s of the engine or lower the upper sump and remove the oil pick up pipe.

Ok so i finished fitting balancer delete kit today took me about 6 hrs working on floor with car on trestles.All in all not difficult but a bit labour intensive cos i lifted engine in front to facilitate removal of upper sump needed new mounting anyway noted when i replaced cambelt.

 

Didnt make a difference to performance as such but the balance unit was noisy for some time now so better deleted.

Not really just a subtle sense of revving quicker .Not sure what frictional loses wouldve been from balance unit ;but to be fair the unit is probably 5kg or so sitting in sump.

 

Removing the balancer shaft will make the revs rise/fall slightly quicker so your not just imagining it. Much like fitting a lighter flywheel but not as obvious and without having to adjust your clutch technique. Removing the balancer unit was one of the big differences Vauxhall made between the let/r to the leh

 

Could be my imagination but after driving the car a few times it feels less torquey now the balancer out
